Playbill Bio: 13, Broadway debut. Prince/Nutcracker, Miami City Ballet's The Nutcracker (2006). Solos, Palm Beach Ballet Center's annual productions (2007, 2008). Dance training: BAK, MSOA. Thanks Joan Miller and all my dance instructors.
Updated Bio (Oct '09): Broadway debut. Watching Gregory Hines and Fred Astaire movies lead to an early interest in dance. Most of his training has been at Palm Beach Ballet Center and Palm Beach Public School of the Arts (U.B. Kinsey and MSOA). Other experience (Kravis Center): Miami City Ballet's The Nutcracker (the Prince/Nutcracker, 2006), YAGP competition (finals, 2008). Ms. Jane Beck always told me I would make it on Broadway by 18; I opened a few years early.
"When Tommy Batchelor danced across stage [in Billy Elliot], I was amazed. The moment when he “flew” to the top of the proscenium I saw the birth of a star. In 30 years of theatre going I have only seen this happen twice before, Hugh in Boy From Oz and Patti in Evita. Neither of those stars needs me to use their last name, years from now the same will be true of Tommy. Off Broadway (but soon to be on) Next Fall proved that a play can be so simple and specific that is about only about a couple with problems but it also about Love, Life, Death, God, Family, Choices, things you can’t think about, thing you must think about and things you never thought about before. It made you think about laughing and laugh about thinking. The moment that show ended I knew I would remember the play forever. –Brian Cullen, Somerset NJ, reader" Source: The Most Memorable Theatre Moments of 2009 (Playbill.com, Playblog)
